Index to British Columbia's Historical Birth, Death and Marriage Records
The Vital Statistics Agency and BC Archives now provide an
electronic index to British Columbia's historical
birth, death and marriage records from as early as 1872, available on
the
BC Archives Website.
What is available on the electronic index?
- Birth registrations are available from 1872 - 1887 or 120 years
after the date of birth.
- Marriage registrations are available from 1872 - 1932 or 75 years
after the date of marriage.
- Death registrations are available from 1872 - 1987 or 20 years after
the date of death.
- Index data related to the deaths of 3,423 British Columbians overseas
during World War II.
How to use the electronic index?
On the index, you will only find records on microfilm for the dates listed
above. Microfilmed records are available for viewing or photocopying
at the following listings.
Official certificates of genealogical records are also available from
the Vital Statistics Agency.
